Bhartec will give a nod to Ymmas, then silently listen to see if the noisy melee attracted any passers-by. Once satisfied he will help tend to the injured and inspecting the corpses, calling dibs on the Gnoll ears.

Kexy will walk over to Divad's corpse to ensure no life remains. Upon verification she says, "We should get these remains back to the village. I am sure Sinlocah and the other clergy will want to lay Divad to rest in the crematorium by tomorrow night."

[Is there any kind of bounty on these fuckers? Lars is going to rifle through them and Divad's remains for shinies, and then stack them up and torch them. He's also going to save something peculiar to gnolls, such as a recognizable weapon or something, anything they could leave at the scene of a later murder to throw off the scent would be acceptable.]

Between wheezing gasps for air, Lars chants "Burn the DEAD, Burn the DEAD," in a low sing-song. This is apparently to keep his later task in mind during the search.

Sinlocah sighs and says heavily, "Technically Divads' possessions go to the Church since he has no family. In the aim of avenging his death and furthering the Edict of Cleansing, however, I think we will split this evenly amongst ourselves."

He nods to Ymmas, "Thank you. I had no idea you were so good with a crossbow." Sinlocah looks at the others in turn. "Ymmas deserves a share, are we agreed?"

[Assuming everyone agrees, Sinlocah will wrap Divad in a blanket/cloak and prepare a stretcher to get him to the village. If the Gnolls are not stacked and burning by the time he is done he will help as he can.]

"Did someone mention something about getting the enemy to fight each other? How do we go about doing that?"

[Now would probably be a good time for Ymmas to introduce himself, so I don't labor under the delusion that he has a blonde afro and red jumpsuit.

No bounty on gnolls that you know of.

I'll inventory the gnolls' belongings, such as they are, this evening when I get home. I can check in from time to time today, but I have several incipient situations that may become annoying.]

Bhartec says while pulling off Divad's boots to see if they fit, "Get a few corpses of the other humanoids, place them near each other. Even a few banners and the like would do, mounting a few heads upon them with various other artifacts. Likely we would need to lay low once we do so however."

While in the area Bhartec will climb up enough to get a look whats on top of the 10' tall ruins/foundation.

[Otter: It's only a delusion if it's untrue, right?]

Ymmas is a burly, shaggy-haired man, with a quick smile. He's not known as the wisest of the village's young men, but rather someone who enjoys a good fight whether he has the best of it - or he doesn't.

He takes a red apple from among Divad's stores, and slings Divad's shield over his shoulder. "Poor bastard. The good die young, as the Good Book says."

"We've got to burn the dead though. I figured we'd leave some gnoll weapons or a chunk of ear or something behind the next time we kill a bunch of people, and then they might think the gnolls had done it."

"Hi Ymmas."

"Bhartec! The Church is going to look a little funny at us if he comes back naked. His armor, weapons and gear will be split amongst us. His clothes go back to the Church."

"Now, let's burn these bodies and get back to town."

Lars sacks up whatever loot they pulled off the gnolls, as well as a few little trophies for a later diversion, and then puts the bodies to the torch. He chortles gleefully as the flames reflect off the polished steel of his helmet, then sets to help with carrying Divad back to town.

The axes are obviously not of gnoll-make, and are heavy, old, and somewhat dull. You doubt anyone would hand over good coin for them, but they can likely be restored to a serviceable edge -- clearly they did in poor Divad without the benefit of honing, a testament more to the strength of gnolls than to the quality of the steel.

There is little of use to Men on the gnolls' carcasses -- bits of plate armor, caked with blood and other organic detritus, and filthy hides. However, in a sack, the alpha gnoll carries a copper statue of a male figure, about the size of a dove, nude save for a toga, miter, and wand. The figure's legs have been melted away below the knees, and its face scratched off.

Gnoll ears are easy harvesting, each as big as a man's hand, and with convenient holes for stringing on a thong once the filth is cleared from their whorls and folds.

Bhartec clambers up a tree at the edge of the 10' high foundation. Hoisting a torch, he can see that this was once a large edifice, though little remains now, and like the other foundations, it is being assailed by encroaching trees and vines clawing their way up through the stone. Most interestingly, barely 10' from Bhartec's vantage is a wide staircase descending down into the foundation ...

Ymmas nods at Lars. "Good to see all of you out here. I got separated from my bunch a few hours ago, and was planning to lay low until daylight.

"If there are gnolls about, I think I'd do better to walk with you boys - and girl - until we can get Divad's body back to the church."

Bhartec will head back to the group and fiddle with a pair of Gnoll ears. "Hmm, a lair of a sort up there. Likely more of them within protecting their treasures with vile traps and hideous beasties lurking in the dark. Very dangerous - you first Ymmas, you like that sort of thing do you not?"

"Gentlemen, we have a corpse to return to the village before investigating the stairs. Might I suggest we return here after a short journey home?"

Lars nods. "Stairs will still be there tomorrow."
