Bhartec will finger his dagger and slink into the shadows, away from the effects of the sleep spell.

Ymmas curses, spinning on his heel to miss Lars' headlong charge through the southern doors.

"I'll deal with this lot, boys," he cries, and looses a quarrel at the most likely-looking of the three bowmen to the north.

[As an aside, could Lars have advanced far enough in his attack to at least get some cover from the archers? He was planning on getting right up in these gnolls' grills.]

With a mighty battle cry Sinlocah charges the bowman.

[The OD&D spell description provides no guidance as to area of effect, targeting, etc. As a rule, I don't like to port many rules from later more standardized editions back into earlier editions, so as far as I'm concerned, you can target the Sleep spell against any opponents within 24" however you like without worrying about catching friendlies.

I'll let you determine and describe how Kexy's spell takes effect in terms of "flavor text." You got five of them -- all four in the chamber, and one of the archers. Then I'll handle the other PCs' actions.]

[Nifty! I like free-form rules!]

Kexy finishes her incantation and gestures at the gnolls standing before Lars. Glittering spell-dust surrounds the heads of all 4 gnolls, who yawn loudly and fall to the floor with a loud clunk. Feeling a last bit of power remaining in her spell, the elfling quickly gestures at the gnoll archers and the one closest to her likewise inhales the eldritch dust, yawns loudly and falls to the floor, enraptured in a sorcerous slumber.

Kexy smirks at the remaining gnolls as she bends to pick up her dropped bow.

Lars neatly cleaves the alpha gnoll's skull as the creature falls ... their leader and the greater part of their number fallen, a screaming armored religious lunatic charging their position, and crossbow bolts whizzing by their heads, the remaining two gnoll archers screech and leap back into the portal on the western wall of the passage going north. Upon Sinlocah's arrival at their former position, he sees an open stone door, no doubt nearly invisible when closed.

"Ha Ha! Lars Lives!" Lars continues to cleave the skulls of the downed Gnolls. "Being clean is lucky!"

Slinging his crossbow, Ymmas switches to his mace and shield, and pursues Sinlocah and the two other archers.

"Kill this one! We'll get the other two!"

[If you're going to pursue through the door, you might want to bring someone with a lit torch. Smile]

Ymmas groans as he reaches the door. Stepping to the immediate right of the opening - so as to interpose a stone wall between him and unfriendly archers who can see in total darkness - he begins winding his crossbow.

"When you can, Lars. Damn these inbred bastards and their dark-seeing eyes."

[The torchbearer died and no one else said they had the torch.]

Kexy will step over the slumbering gnoll-soon-to-be-corpses and quickly surveys the chamber beyond them.

[Anything dangerous immediately noticeable?]

Bhartec will stay behind for a few moments to slit Gnoll throats, and frisk them.
