[I'd like to keep the ball rolling on the ruin and cavern exploration if that's your intention. If there are any special provisions or preparations you want to make other than those posted in the private threads, please post them and we'll fast-forward back to the ruins. Again, we'll explore various "above ground" issues once we have some momentum on the delving.

I'll be posting XP totals to that thread.]

[So - do we want to continue with the cavern, which seems to be a highly-risky environment, or try something easier?

Secondly, what's the status of our infamous rivals? Having spent a week in town, have we observed them at all? They ever show up again? Make any good scores? Suffer any casualties?]

[We might try cutting down the rope bridge and building a gigantic fire on the landing facing us. If they seem like men other than not needing torchlight in darkness, then maybe we might be able to suffocate a goodly number of them to death.]

[Kinfird and his band haven't been heard from in about a fortnight.]

When the group meets up for the next foray, Lars calls that to their attention. "Kinfird's dead. I'd reckon. No body yet. But nobody's seen him. For, uhh...." Lars counts mumbling on his fingers for a while. "More than a week. It's been a long time. So maybe he's dead. Or he's joined the bad guys. Or maybe they just ran off." Lars is the cleanest any of you have seen him. He's shaved, smells of soap - some residue of which is still visible in the cauliflaur-like cartilage of one ear-and has polished his armor to a high sheen. He's replaced his flail with a pair of highly-polished axes, and has a pair of javelins to round out his complement. "Heh. Maybe somethin' made 'em all into faceless guys. Like we fought that one time. That'd be funny."

He stares off at the horizon. "I still call dibs on his axe."

Ymmas looks troubled. "Anybody else gone missing?"

"Have any of you heard of a band going in search of Old Nightfang?" Kexy asks.

"I'd be surprised if no one thought to investigate that beastie."

"No." Ymmas holds a piece of straw over a nearby brazier, and lights the clay pipe in his teeth.

"But it might be worth talking about what we should do first. It's a big mean world out there, and we might want to build up to the men living beneath the ruins of that old temple. Maybe something's a little closer, a little easier?"

"I agree. The men below the ruins are sure to be ready for us. Maybe if we find another entrance..."

"Or we could look for some other evil to fight."

[The largest foundation in the ruins had a staircase going down that has not been explored.]

Bhartec will arrive to meet with the group on their next foray. A young man trails behind him carrying Bhartec's backpack, rope, torches and other goods. The young man is Dextran Thredd, a recent orphan with a curious demeanor.

"Let us be off, shall we."

[Bhartec asks for one of Lars' Gnoll axes for the boy to carry before we leave]

[Did we have four of them, or only two? I can't recall. In any case, we can surely hook him up with SOMETHING. We recovered those daggers and hammers, too, I believe.]
