Ymmas takes a knee and braces his crossbow, aimed at the curtain.

Bhartec completes his dramatic and decisive defilement of the basement without incident and proceeds to the black draperies, for there prove to be two. Grasping one in each hand, he yanks them back --

then burbles a few nonsense syllables before keeling over, his eyes bugging out.

Behind the curtains is a black marble statue of a tall, gaunt man in flowing black robes. His face is darkly beautiful, but has an expression of morose morbidity. His attitude is one of beckoning, arms slightly outstretched toward the viewers. The workmanship is quite accomplished.

"Why wait? Why not destroy it now, while we're here? Uhh, Bhartec?" Lars looks concerned, and walks slowly over to his downed comrade, coming within no more than a pace of him.

Bhartec is utterly motionless, his face contorted in an expression of supernal horror. He seems to be trying to vocalize, but only a drooling "buhhhhhhh" escapes his purpled lips.

Lars is going to hook the hem of his robe with one of his axes, and drag Bhartec back away from the statue. "Hey, guys, he's confused or something. Somebody do something?"

Bhartec slides along the cold stone, leaving a light spittle trail.

"Gnggggg ..."

"If we use our ropes and tip this son of a bitch over onto the floor, then we let this bunch know that they're not safe anywhere, not even in their own shrine. Maybe they'll move on to another part of the country, or maybe they'll come to Tegel with their knives out. But it'll damn sure let them know we won't suffer them here."

"Yeah. Tip it. Wreck it. Get those gems out." Lars looks nervously back and forth between the statute and Bhartec. "Bhartec's not dead. Maybe he's drunk." Lars slaps him. "Wake up. We're working."

Brother Frickus looks over your shoulder.

"Maybe you should bang his head on the floor a few times."

Brother Frackus pipes in.

"Yeah! Slap him some more, too!"

The other monks vigorously nod their assent.
